ASTRA AWARDS NOMINATION FOR YOURS TRULY!!
April 22nd 2007 02:06
Well, not exactly for me, but a show I edited has been nominated for the ASTRA Awards, which is kinda like the Logies for PayTV...
"Gardening for Kids with Madi" is a 5 minute interstitial kids show about gardening, hosted by 6-year-old Madi.
The show is up for "Best Kids Programming", and "Best Presenter" for little Madi!!
Here's the opening titles:
Gardening for Kids with Madi
I will endeavour to post an entire episode up on my YouTube Channel shortly, I just need to clear it with the Production Company first...
The ASTRAs are on the 23rd April, with winners announced on the ASTRAs website on the 24th.
Go Madi!

Thanks charliesgirl, you should get a hold of some episodes for your boy - they might just turn him around...
;o)
Thanks JD,
It does look good on the old CV (not that I've ever used it to get a job worth getting - word of mouth is very powerful in this industry), and the prod co is very confident. They have won ASTRAs for the last few kids series they have produced - so it's a pretty good pedigree.
Hopefully once I get the episode up for everyone to look at, I might even have some more good news to go with it.
Cheers, all!

Nice show, is it suitable for 'old kids too'
I think 'older kids' get something else out of it. As a father of a 6 year old, I found Madi hilarious to edit - and painfully cute. Hearing her talk about her horticulturalist is very funny... especially when you can't pronounce horticultaralist ;o)
Thanks, Dusk
Madi truly wasn't that bad between takes, I'm just stirring... in fact she was more professional that some 'professional' grown-ups I've worked with before!

Though the 6 yr old being nominated for an award suddenly has me feeling like I've done nothing with my life! LOL.
Good luck!

The series before "Gardening" was "Cooking for Kids with Luis" - he WON the award, and aslo made it into the Guiness Book of World Records for the youngest ever presenter with his own show!
Now that's over-achievement !!

Again, over-achieving...

I am very happy to report that although (sadly) Madi didn't win her category, "Gardening For Kids With Madi" won the Best Kids Production Category last night at the ASTRAs!
I am meeting with the production company today, and with any luck they'll let me put an ep up online for all to see...
Yay for Madi!!
