Official 'Gabriel' Trailer, Poster Art, and 2007 release date!
August 12th 2007 00:36
It's finally here!
Well, almost...
As you may remember a few posts back, I did some work on a blockbuster Aussie film called Gabriel. Well it's finally done and being released on November 15. As you can see from the awesome poster art - it's worth a look.
If that's not enough to convince you here's the storyline, taken from the website:
"A dark action drama that takes place in the realm of Purgatory. I t reveals the struggle between Arc and Fallen angels for control over the city and its population of reborn souls.
At present, Darkness rules and Gabriel, the last of seven Arcs sent to bring back light, must assume a human form. In the darkest places of the human soul, this lone Arc Angel's battle with his human feelings will prove as perilous as facing the Fallen."

F### Yeah!
And just to seal the deal, (as if you needed more??) - here's the official trailer online, also screening in cinemasfrom August 16, ahead of movies like Die Hard 4.0:

Cool that you got to work on this one, did you edit some of it?
I have heard some cool buzz about it and as you say, the art work certainly promises atmosphere.

I've been away awhile. Good to see not much has changed.
Try cinema release in 100 countries. When was the last time an Aussie film had that?
Tracy
I haven't seen the completely finished film myself, but I casn assure you that the completed snippets I have been privy to are awesome, including the music. I also have a feeling it's going to be hard to avoid come November. Sony will likely push it pretty hard.

Hey mate, thanks for popping in - I know it's been quite a while. Sadly I didn't get a chance to edit anything on this film. I was an Assistant Editor. I think you'll find it interesting - worthy of a damn good conversation if nothing else
Damo
Good to see you Damo. The answer to your question is this:
When these angels take on a human form, they need to keep the use of their angelic powers to a minimum, as they will be easily detected and hunted down by their nemeses. They also venture into some messed up parts of the world. Hence they need some good old-fashioned firepower
As for the Underworld comparison - it's probably going to be unavoidable. I've not seen the Underworld films, but I think if this 100% Aussie indie film is drawing comparisons to Hollywood films with that kind of budget, it's a good thing in some ways.
By the way - Mrs M mentoined some music on your blog to check out, but I can't seem to get the post to load - are you having any probs with your blog?

I'm not willing to get excited over something that may fail due to 'experimental directing' or 'brand new concept in cinema'.
What really sucks, though, is if this movie is a success, all the actors and whatnot are gonna move to friggin America X_X, which is kind of ironic given most hollywood blockbusters ARE MADE in Australia.
Were like the cheap import of the movie industry.

Nothing experimental about this, buddy. Just good old-fashioned whoop-ass. Just as good any anything else in the genre.
Ah, but this one is made BY Australians. Big difference. I'd say you'd dig this one Ahmed.
Or perhaps you'll wait for the game? When was the last timean Aussie film was game-worthy?

Ah well, I'll enter with low expectations, I won't be let down if it's bad but if it's good, it's good.
Heh, were like the third largest game developing country in the world, some of the best developers are based around Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
I think the question is, 'when was the last time an Aussie film was camera worthy?'. Seriously, if I see it on BitTorrent iwth 'Gabriel.Cam.TS.VID' I'll be impressed.

Don't avoid the question. When was the last time an Aussie film was turned into a game?

Things are easing a touch, is all. Work is getting slightly less frantic, and I'm cutting a new film so I'm feeling a little human again.
I'll have a teaser for the new film up soon, too I suspect.
It's nice to be missed, D!
You rock.
