Outpost Video Podcast Ep 1 - The Carlton Big Ad

April 5th 2007 05:01

This is the first episode of a little side project I started last year (Episode 2 is coming soon, I swear!).

Anyone who is into their "Behind The Scenes" stuff will probably get a kick out of this. I wanted to talk to editors (being one myself) about their careers and focus on a particular project. In this case we speak to Peter Whitmore ASE, the editor of everyone's favourite beer ad, the Carlton Draught "Big Ad". You know the one. And if you don't it's at the end of the video.

If you want more info on the podcast or on Pete Whitmore ASE, check out www.outpostpps.com/podcast.

Hope you enjoy!

Ooh... what a paradox.

Then I'd have to interview myself... and the space-time continuum will be so disrupted that the universe will collapse upon itself, imploding into a singularity.

Heavy.

Then I'd have to interview myself

...and it could become a paradigm.

Be well.

I've had to study that ad for uni, so it is great to see some of the behind the scenes of how it all came together.

Why and how did you study this for Uni?

I have studied some advertising units for the business part of my business/law degree. It's basically used as an example of a really great creative ad. We also looked at the recall and recognition aspects of it.

That's pretty cool - I'm sure Pete Whitmore would like to know that... I'll mention it to him next I see him.

I definitely think it will be one of the ads that is used as an example in years to come, alongside the Superbowl classics such as Apples 1984 commercial.
