The Bleed - kingsmillrox Indie Music Video

This is a music video I edited for an indie band named The Bleed. Directed once again by the talented Shane Abbess, and shot by Jules O'Loughlin, the Director of Photography for Aussie film Kokoda.

Hopefully you'll enjoy watching it as much as I did editing it!

Wow that was a pretty good video. Hated the music, but a decent video. I liked the relatively slow editing - these days videos are usually edited so quickly, they might as well put random shots together at a frame each and hope it resembles someone singing. Was the shaking an effect, or just mishap?

The shaking was originally done in camera (Jules is awesome) and when I saw it I knew it had to go in. What ended up happening, though, was that we didn't have enough in-camera shake to sustain the part of the track we needed, so we artificially 'shook-up' the shts that needed it.

Never cut without a reason. You can cut to create pace, but you still need to have a logic or a reason to cut. Most music vids are just cut at random, as you say. And I didn't think this track lent itself to that kind of pace.

jimbo...let me get this straight...you loved the vdeo but hated the music....if im not mistaken, doesnt the music mke the video?

lmao and the shaking effect depends on who was shooting it...if it was shot by one of the bleed guys, it would of been un-intentional and just an effect of a big night partying

Wow I loved it. Friggen catchy song, mixed well, shot well, Lv the way u zoomed in on them like that, makes it all the more personal. Plus the black n white suits their indie style. By the way the shakin effect made the vid more rockn roll, n looked totally done on purpose (re to Matt) but u r right matty the music definatley made the video. Without it u would of just been in awe of the guys gettin into their instruments and lovn every moment of it!! so put that all togethr n u got one shit hot band and crew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, for everyone who's paying me out for no logical reason apart from mere fanboi-ism, let me just make something straight. I"m expressing my opinion of the music, which I, as writer of www.musictimes.com.au, have a right to do. I said it in the context of a generally good comment on the side of editing so, miss jenna, you're totally wrong on that one. Author of the blog and editor of the video, yoda76, took no offense to my comment whatsoever, so I'm not sure why anyone else has to.

Thanks everyone for stopping by and commenting.

You'll notice I've deleted a bunch of comments due to their senseless and offensive nature.

If you think that sounds weak - let me explain:

Everyone is entitled to their opinion -whether you agree or not. More than happy to hear everyone's. I understand the kind of passion that The Bleed ignite in fans - they're a rockin' outfit, and they're doin' it all independently.

Much respect.

But what I won't tolerate on my blog is the senseless flaming of other users. I'm sure Jimbo would be more than happy to listen to what you guys and gals have to say about The Bleed, may even find something worth a repeat listen if he listened to some other tracks ;o)

I will continue to delete silly senseless flaming and insults directed at other users - so don't bother.

Feel free to hail The Bleed in all your Groupie-ness and Fanboi-ism. They deserve the kudos.

no worries mate, was a pleasure making that video. The song was designed around a 70's 8o's hook with a driven manson like effect on the guitars, we combined a lot of melody and if you listen you may pick up nil actual drum symbols. The singing is in dual harmony to give it that sexyful feel and the lead break was designed to slease. There are also little melodic lead runs in the tune if you listen close. As a member of the bLEED the word HATE being used by Jimbo does nothing to constructively contribute to our music . What can you do though, people tend to shoot the mental cannon prematurely. Also if the bleeds comments are being silenced through content i will say this. We also find jimbos comment sensless and offensive. Whats good for the goose as they say. Rock on bleedies, we luv your support and defence, music is a drug & your why we do it. More importantly this blog should now return to the video and the awesum talented team of indie film guru's who made it. rock on !
