It has only recently come to my attention that Peter McGregor, one of Australia's leading activists, died on January 11 this year. Most may have missed the reports in the paper (I certainly did), as the obit was published in the SMH on the 23rd Jan, and undoubtedly shadowed by the death of Heath Ledger the day before.
Peter was my film studies and media studies lecturer at the University of Western Sydney, and he was like nothing I has ever seen before. He pretty much single-handedly opened my eyes to the hidden agendas and machinations of the media, and taught me to question everything I heard or saw. In fact it was Peter who really ignited my love of the song from which the quote on this blog's banner is taken.
Despite the fact that he would very likely be mortified at my silly little blog here, I thought it only fit to try and make some more people that may have missed it aware of his tragic passing. He was certainly a unique individual.
